1 Bell, 1-0-26 in B
Gillett & Johnston's tuning book No. 8 shows that they supplied a single bell to an unspecified building in Balcombe.
The bell was cast in 1928 and installed on August 28th that year.
When the bell was cast, it weighed 1-1-12cwt, but during the tuning process, it lost 13lbs and now weighs 1-0-26.
There are two possible places it could be. These are Balcombe House and Balcombe Place.
Balcombe Place seems the most positive as there is a louvered clock tower.
Balcombe CofE school, parish room, and club all have bells but these were not cast by Gilletts.
Fortunately, Gillett & Johnston have provided us with the partials to help identify the bell if heard.
It is Simpson tuned to the key of B and a recording of what it should sound like is below.
If anyone knows where this bell is, I'd be very grateful to know.
