As a gift from Lady Farrington, a clock was given in 1723 without a bell. It was up to the Major at the time to supply one.
This clock, by an unknown maker, survived until 1903, when it was replaced by a small clock by Gillett & Johnston of Croydon.
In recent years, the clock has been converted to an automatic winding system. About a 12 rung ladder was required to access the level of the clock.
