Chichester, St Peter the Great
About the Bells
The former church of St Peter the Great was re-build between 1848 - 1852.
It was built to R. C. Carpenter's design, although, the intended SW tower was never build due to lack of funds.
In the 16th C, the church must have had a bell tower, for two wills refer to the ringing of bells.
Sadly, I haven't come across anything else regarding bells here. As always, if I find anything else, I will update this page.
The church closed down in 1979 due to a dwindling congregation and the amount of restoration work required.
It then became an antiques market, followed by a bar and resturant.
Today, it is the Duke & Rye Pub.
