Furnace Green, St AndrewSt Andrews Furnace Green is a small modern church made of brick, and was built in 1968.
In 2010 the church was remodelled so that it could facilitate the social aspect of the church. In return, a café was added to the north side, and a bell was hung. Up until 2010, the church never had a bell. However, when it was remodelled, the contractors said that they must have one because it is Anglican. |

1 Bell, 0-2-19 in F
The bell was cast in 2010 by the Whitechapel bell foundry making it the 7th bell in Crawley cast at Whitechapel.
It was bought at the cost of £4000, and is hung above the entrance to the church under a sheltered roof. It is bolted to a metal headstock along with its clapper, which is then fixed to a pair of steel brackets.
Around the waist is a inscription bearing the foundry's name; their trademark stamp, and an ornamental band, formed by using metal stamps.
It was tuned right the way up its profile on a lathe, and is Simpson tuned to the key of F.
No rope is required to ring it, since it is electronically chimed by an electromagnetic clapper.
Around a 28 rung ladder is required to access it.
One bell in great condition.
