Horsham, Clockhouse PodiatryThe Horsham Clockhouse Podiatry has a single bell hung dead in a turret on the roof.
In 2007, the turret required a major overhaul, resulting in the replacement of the lead roof, and new wooden legs turned to replace the old ones. The clock dial was restored, and the bell also. |

1 Bell
The bell was cast by Roger II Purdue in 1650, and was cast with a 6 looped, conventional canon. This has since been removed, and holes on the crown shows where it had a false crown staple. Sadly no note could be taken as the hammer is currently disconnected from the clock. It carries a short inscription around the inscription band, made using was parchment letter. The casting is fairly porous, and the fairly square profile may suggest it has a sharp prime? There are no moulding wires on the crown, but 2 for the inscription band; three at the bottom of the waist; and two on the sounbow. This bell is hung dead, and bolted to the turret. The holes from the false staple were reused for the new thread bars. |
