Thomas Lester & Thomas Pack
Whitechapel
1752 - 1769
Thomas Pack was Lester's foreman. He also came from a family with a long founding history.
In 1752, Thomas Lester took Thomas Pack into partnership, working under the name of Lester & Pack.
They continued to use Richard Phelps' letters until 1763, when an up to date set with straight serifs were introduced in two different sizes.
The ornaments introduced by Thomas Lester continued to be used, especially Fig. TLE,1.
Their inscriptions are like those of their predecessors. Either:
T LESTER & T PACK; THOS LESTER & THOS PACK
Or a combination of both. The most common we find is
LESTER & PACK
removing their forenames.
It appears that their canons were wax moulded.
It's found on some bells they used the singular fecit instead of the plural fecerunt, showing their Latin knowledge wasn't great.
