1 Bell in G
The bell originally came from the former Pullman Works at Preston Park to mark the start and end of work shifts.
The Pullman works opened in 1928, 20 years after the bell was cast. The site was built on a triangular plot of land, a short stroll from the station. It closed down in 1963, and the bell was transferred to Sheffield Park.
It was cast by John Warner & Sons in 1898 and features a simple inscription around the soundbow.
It is made of brass, and was cast with a peg canon, formerly bolted to a headstock.
The inside shows it once had a clapper, judging by the presence of a cast in crown staple and points of wear.
It's quite a clean sand-casting with 2 moulding wires above the soundbow, and legible letters.
The residue around the letters are from a metal polish.
Visited with Heather, and Andrew Leaver 14/10/2022.
