John I Taylor & Sons
Loughborough
1844 - 1858
In 1844, John Taylor employed his three sons Robert, Pryce, and John W. Taylor. Robert passed away unmarried in 1856, and Pryce in 1862.
Together, they cast many bells for the northern counties, but none appear to have crossed the Sussex border.
Since most of their bells are inscribed Taylor & Son, it's likely that John I Taylor took his son John into partnership, and his other two sons worked along side them. The use of the word fecit is very rarely used during this period, and the use of Roman numerals appears to have died out too.
John I Taylor died in 1858, and was buried at Loughborough, general cemetery.
The business was then passed down into the hands of his son John William Taylor Senr*.
