About the Bells

16 Bells, lbs  oz In F#
The mini ring project started on Saturday 16th April 2022. The first to pots were bought at The Range, Crawley. These were bells 11 and 12. The Method of inscribing them was to draw a straight line down the middle of each pot so I knew where the center was to. This allowed me to use this as a guide to ensure all the inscriptions lined up in the middle. I did all the inscriptions in pencil and then once I was happy with it, I went over in Sharpie. Each bell has IN CAMPANIS FLORALIBUS latin meaning the floral ring. Bell number 12 was the first to be inscribed and was named after the tenor at Crawley, St John the Baptist (PRAYER).
On 22/04/2022, bell 13 was ordered at the range too. It weighs 3lbs 11oz, same as the twelve and rings in the key of B. The 13 is named FRED.
In late April 2022, two extra trebles were added to form a ring in the tuning of 1-5 of an 8, this also meant I had a true four too! The first clapper was made on the 6th May 2022 from wooden dowel and a door knob. On this day the treble (9) was tuned down to fit in with the rest of the ring.
The next bell to have been added was a tenor. The bell was donated by Fred Mills and rings in the key of Bb. This gives us 6 bells with the tuning of 1-6 of 8.
